ATTRIBUTES OF THE QUANTUM CIPS DATA LOGGER.

1. Quantum is a purpose built data logger, it is NOT an off the shelf computer modified to act as a CIPS Data Logger. Quantum Data Logger is only 2.8 pounds in weight, (about 1.25 kilogram).

2. Quantum is built to be robust and simple to use by field people. To survey you just set up your electrodes and trailing wire then press CIPS and walk the pipeline route, the data is logged automatically, one ON and one OFF every 1.25 seconds. (about every metre of pipeline). THERE ARE NO COMPLEX SET UP PROCEDURES FOR THE QUANTUM EQUIPMENT.

3. Quantum has a full alphanumeric keyboard.

4. The screen shows exactly what pulse shape the Data logger is seeing and from which measurements are taken. You can see the anodic and cathodic spikes, AC interference and poor pulse shape resulting from switching the rectifier ON/OFF.

5. The screen also displays the ON/OFF potentials, the status of the GPS, the amount of memory used, the instrument operation mode and Satellite Status.

6. The Quantum Data Logger has 4 channels so can record 4 separate items at same time.

7. The Quantum memory is 32 mb which is 16 times bigger than any other CIPS equipment in the international market place.

8. Quantum will record 62,500 lines of data which is equivalent to about 70 Km of CIPS survey at 1.2 metres per second or 21 hours of continuous use.

9. The Quantum has 7 of the most common right of way features listed in the memory so to log them against a record only requires pressing one button. The 8th option allows you to enter your own feature.

10. Quantum is built to record CIPS data at the pulse frequency of an analogue DCVG Survey

11. Quantum is built so all the data from a Coating Fault Epicentre analogue DCVG survey can be recorded at same time as a CIPS survey. Two different surveys can be carried out at the same time in one pass. Analogue DCVG to locate and Quantum to take all the measurements.
