SOFTWARE

© DCVG Ltd. 2008

The Database within ECDA Software uses Microsoft Access and data may be manually entered via Window forms or digitally imported via Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet packages. The database stores in excess of 516 different types of input data in many separate, interactive tables.
Typical tables are:-

Pipeline Description Records. Accepts constructional information e.g. name, wall thickness, steel grade, diameter, coating, route GPS, route map details, landowners etc.

Segment and Subsector Records. Accepts information on each ECDA Segment and Subsector, (distance between two adjacent CP Test Posts) of the pipeline e.g. positional data including GPS co-ordinates, DCVG signal strength, CIPS data, Soil characteristics, Rectifier output etc.

Pre-Assessment and Environment Records. Accepts information on the position and description of pipeline features e.g. Closeness of buildings, pipeline crossings, test posts, marker posts, valves, roads, railways, fences, trees, streams, metal loss magnets, repaired areas etc.

Indirect Assessment Survey Data & Records. Accepts information from the various surveys used to determine pipeline coating quality and the effectiveness of Cathodic Protection. Includes DCVG survey information e.g. defect severity and current consumption; CIPS survey information e.g. defect epicentre, ON/OFF Pipe-to-Soil Potential; Soil survey information e.g. soil resistivity and type, etc. Data is both Coating Fault Specific and general.

Direct Assessment. The results of all excavations including photos and reports are held in a sub program called Excavat with analysis of any metal loss activity.
Calculations. Provides for the calculation and/or correction of various parameters e.g. Potential Impact Radius, distance calculation and correction to match map chainage, GPS and DCVG, corrections, CIPS attenuation errors, Metal Loss distance, B31G, etc.

Metal Loss Tool Records. Accepts metal loss survey information e.g. tool details, defect characteristics, defect position. (Metal Loss locations can be compared with DCVG defect locations using GPS for distance). All information according to the draft Specification on ILI Tools.

Rehabilitation Costs. Accepts local information relevant to the cost of direct labour, equipment, materials, and support activities for Pipe, CP, Coating, Repair Methods such as Clockspring etc. The projected costs can be cloned then manipulated to plan cost effective utilisation of Manpower and Equipment.
